Repentance

The repentance and fasting meeting at our famous Uhuru Park grounds that saw all our presidential aspirants attend was something that is unique to Kenya.

Organized by our very own Prophet Oduor the meeting was highly attended so much so that for some of those presidential candidates, that was the largest crowd they'll ever get to address in their life times. White kerchiefs were being waved signifying the thirst for peace that had eluded the country during the 2007-2008 elections. This time round no one wanted to gamble with their lives.

Though dismissed by the elites who believe that religion is the opiate of the masses, the huge crowd and lack of disappointment from the presidential candidates was proof enough that once bitten one becomes twice shy. Though we cannot ever know the seriousness of some of the candidates and if this was just a gamble for them in-case prophecy is true, in which case they wouldn't want to be on God's black list, their mere presence invokes the elitist and atheistic mind to consider prodding further the issue of prophesy and more so religion . Could it be that they are the ones that are wrong.

In Kenya's year of Jubilee the invocation of God's word on the same was not lightly taken by the christian faith but was followed and has been believed by many. The belief of God's favor and visitation in this fiftieth year was celebrated on Kenya's independence day by most churches who held overnight prayer meetings and the words of Leviticus 25 have been preached over and over again in many a pulpit. The message is double edged in that it has repercussions for anyone not adhering to it and favor and blessings for those who do.

All the same, what we witnessed on the podium gave many people inner peace for there was an eerie fear creeping into the hearts of many and witnessed by the sporadic movement of some particular tribes from areas perceived as concentrations of their 'rival' tribes. Buses were again booming  with business  from high movement of families to rural areas and one would be excused for thinking it was an early Christmas.

Total respect goes to our leaders who humbled themselves and in-front of the mammoth crowd, asked for forgiveness for ills they had done to anyone in this country and vowed to God and country to adhere to a code of maintaining peace regardless of who won. This was not just a sign of their commitment to peace but of their reverence to the Lord God Almighty. If they mean what they say they are principled men.

What God will do after this we might not really know for now but I believe He will do something that will astound many in this country for His word says  in 2Chronicles 7:14  ' If my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. '

God bless Kenya.
